A Personal Story: Pulling Teeth – Heather, Enfield

pulling_teeth

Heather lives in Enfield, Vermont. She is deeply ashamed of the number of teeth she has lost. She has six that have been pulled, and at least four that need caps. Heather was divorced three years ago, and is still covered under her ex husband’s dental insurance policy until December—even so, the amount the insurance pays doesn’t cover the expense of the work Heather needs done.

“I’ve been in my dentist’s office in tears because I can’t afford the dental care. I always go through a little break down when I realize I have to get another tooth pulled.” Heather would like to get her teeth taken care of, but she simply can’t afford it right now: “It’s either get the cap, or put groceries on the table.”
