A Personal Story: One Tooth a Year – Sarah, Sharon

Sarah, 61, lives in Sharon, Vermont, and has dental insurance. “But even with dental insurance I pay about a thousand dollars a year because I’ve had so many fillings that need to be replaced, and root canals done…Even with dental insurance it’s pretty expensive.” Even so, Sarah tries not to put off dental work—she tries to do one tooth a year. Sarah feels fortunate to have insurance, because the cost would be twice as much without insurance. “I just feel really lucky that I can afford to pay that half share of (the work.) If I’d had to pay the whole thing that would have been hard but even half is fairly expensive.”
