six-months-of-pain

Nicole is a young, single mother whose wisdom teeth starting hurting her terribly two years ago. All four of her wisdom teeth were impacted and needed to be surgically removed. Because she had no insurance to cover oral surgery, Nicole spent a very painful six months trying to locate and get referred to a provider who would do the procedure and give her a payment plan that was within her means. Two years later, she is still making monthly payments to pay for the removal of those wisdom teeth – just one more bill and one more worry, month after month.

Nicole’s daughter Jayden, who is now four, had to have a diseased tooth extracted when she was two. Jayden is covered by Vermont’s Dr. Dynasaur program, but the only provider that Nicole could find that accepted the program and could appropriately care for Jayden’s situation had a six-month long waiting list. So the little girl spent half a year living with a sensitive, painful tooth – and her mom had to watch her suffer.
